Does any one know if the marking on the scythe is from a business or the company that made it? I can't seem to find any info on it. I was wondering if it could be from the civil works administration or if the scythe could even be that old. It has two markings close together the second one is more worn.

    Hi, Michael, and welcome!

I was having a hard time seeing your photos, so I rotated and enlarged them here:

I don't have a clue if the CWA is for the Civil Works Administration (a New Deal era agency in the US), the Communications Workers of America (labor union) or something else entirely, but someone else here very well might!

To me, the 2-word "name" ending with BUCK appears to be an individual's name, but I can't decide what the first name is...

Please wait for others who will know far more than I!

    Welcome, Michael.
Nice scythe, love the patina on the wood. It looks older to me than the New Deal era.

I think I see Eckel Buck who I'd assume was the owner.

Thanks for all the input. The scythe was found in my grandfathers shed in Maryland about 15 years ago. He is not alive anymore to ask questions. I don’t know anything about buck eckel. I just feel that there might be some interesting history behind it.
