How old is this small cup sized glazed cup?What is it?

Probably Japanese given the karakusa and pine branch pattern. Looks early 19th century or perhaps even a little earlier to me, nice piece.

 

The top sure wants to be old, but to me the bottom looks brand new.

Bottom is different. The dry ring on the first one indicates for drinking out of more likely than this one.

 

Maybe actually bakers, thinking about it the base does seem to suggest some sort of cup, would be flat if twas a brush pot

 

Size isn't given, but may be a sake cup, some were this shape. @evelyb30 One of the quirks of bases is that when you go back further in time they start to get better again, more carefully produced with time spent getting them perfect.

 

Interesting. I was beginning to suspect something of the sort.
