New! And curious about my Kroehler Rocker

Hi I’m Michelle, I’ve loved antiques for as long as I can remember. My whole house would be furnished with them if I could haha.

I just got a kroehler rocker out of a barn sale and I’m curious how old it is? It’s stuffed with hay which was used up until the 1920s right?

It looks like about 1900 to me, maybe a hair earlier, and I'd almost bet it has the original upholstery. That sort of piece doesn't have a big following and probably never did, but I bet it works just fine. This is one case where I'd take the guts out because whatever it's stuffed with is loaded with dust and lord-knows what. If the springs are in good shape I'd leave those alone.
