Can anyone tell me what this is? I thought a trophy because it looks like 2 names, (I used different filters to try to read it better but I still can't) - but I can't make it out (I thought it said 100 km like a race? But a steer horn for a trophy?)
My sister thought it may have been a lamp but there is no fixture inside or even a hole for the wire.
    Is the band silver?
    Any idea of age?
I appreciate any help - this had belonged to my mom.

German bicycle club. Radsport-Verein Schwalbe (martin/swallow) 99, probably founded 1899. 26th 100 km race of flatland, flying like a swallow...
    so from 1925, quite old.

    Silver plate on brass
If you have a Sunshine cloth, you could clean a little of the tarnish off.
I would not use the regular liquid silver cleaners.

PS: It says nothing of flatland of course, but as Swiss everything German is looking flat except some girls in Dirndls at the Oktoberfest.

it is definitely NOT a drinking horn. since medieval times nobody in his right mind would drink out of such stuff as in that link. out of medical reasons the rims were always of silver. anything else is deco items.

Journey, is there something in your mother's things that could be a base for the metal part, so it can stand?

No we emptied her unit picking things we wanted, so we could close her account; after we found this we looked for a bottom but there was none

Not sure but looks like that stub coming off it would fit into a candlestick?
