Another old vase, or is it just scruffy?

Hi everyone! I picked this up at lunch today, it's 7"H x 4"W. It is in rough shape, I can only make out the impressed number on the bottom "247". There looks to be other writing on the base but I can't figure out what it says. Is this an older pot/vase and do you recognise style or possible maker? Thanks as always :)

I think all I'm remembering is that Burleigh ware was discussed. I could be remembering wrong though.

You're probably thinking of Brentleigh, rather than Burleigh. Brentleigh was decorated with some kind of cellulose paint, rather than being given a proper glaze firing, and thus is prone to weird flaking.

It looks like there was a stamp that’s blurred. Maybe “Made in ???”

The brown blur does sort of look that way, but there's no way to read it (at least not for me.)

Another similar vase says "Made in England" so I think you're likely right!

It's low end 30s Staffordshire made, airbrushed and transfer.
