The best I ever found had a tiny weeny 800 mark on the bottom, even if they did read it they thought it was plate

Someone correct me if Im wrong,but wasnt it Asia who stamped "silver" like that? Ive got an enamel and silver box with that mark. That Kralik vase is gorgeous!

Nice scores! My big silver score a while back was most of a sterling (simultaneously plain and ugly) flatware service, sold as silverplate. Hot-footed that to a local pawn shop. One of the workers had been past the same case and right past the same set and he'd dismissed it as plated too. Silver was low then, but it was still $200+ in my pocket instead of his.

Just back from CShop. Whenever I have seen this cameo setting with the rope twist bow at the bottom it’s always been base metal and along with the chain with the Patented number clasp I thought nah.
Nice surprise to find the 375 gold mark. £1.

 

I bought these at a car boot sale last December. Fiver each. Bloke even told me one was silver. They both were, and mid 19th at that.

Went to an antique store today and got Waterford candlesticks and a Kosta Boda piece of glass for $30 total. One candlestick does have tiny rough spots on two corners where the table got it, but your fingers find them before your eyes do. If they ever do.

Ruth if you did not point out to me that this was a polar bear, I would have never known. It is a pretty item.

 

It was displayed backward in the store; I'm not sure the "expert" even knew whodunnit. I hemmed and hawed a bit and got $5 off the price, but in reality couldn't get it out the door fast enough.

 

I did actually sell them. Basket made £106, mug £66. I was quite happy with that.

 

2nd house call went well, got lots of glass...

Depression glass, art glass, elegant glass and one lone Weiss bracelet with clip earring set. They had a lot of jewelry but nothing else I was interested in.

Got some goodies. Yesterday - Kosta Boda polar bear sculpture and Waterford candlesticks. Today, a man's engraved 1943 watch. Gold-filled, but i'm the first person ever to take the back off (I think) and with some cleaning it would go right back to work. Dropped the works when I was re-assembling it and low and behold the second hand moved for a few seconds. She wants to run. The necklace is gold-filled or plated, but it's over 100 years old. Russian Niello locket. Probable bakeite long pin. Bangle wants to be tortoise.
Total price $100 on the nose.

 

The rhinestone necklace about is Weiss. There's a stone missing from the clasp, but who cares - it was riding around in my car, totally forgotten.

The Ill Will Oopsies of the week - Shabbat candlesticks ($2) from Israel and two ($1 each) vintage Sperry/Univac mugs. Those mugs eBay for about $45 each. Univac has massive geek cred.
