Miniature 11" high asian screen - what are these? Wood frame with interior image

Does anyone know what these are? I'm not sure how to find comparables. We have a bunch of these, each 11 inches high. The wood frame encloses translucent slats that create an image. Is there a name for them? Thanks! ... Dave

 

I tried to find similar with no luck. I assume these illuminate when held to the light? Any idea what the material is? Thought it might be palm leaf but not finding anything searching that way.

 

If you have 4 , put them in a square shape and you have an asian lamp screen set !

 

Yes, they do illuminate when held to the light. The material is translucent. We think there are two layers, with the artwork between the layers, painted on the back side of the top layer. I just had a couple of colleagues look at them, and they described it as like "tennis racket strings" or "fishing line".

 

It looks like we have 6 in all, but I don't know if that is a complete set. This one has a paper tag with the number 24 on the back, looks like it was written with a fountain pen.

 

What are those tabs at the sides?

 

They are little pieces of wood. I just looked at some of the other pieces, and some have sockets on the side that the wood tabs would fit into. I'll try to put them all together and post more pictures over the weekend.

 

Well then 6 would make a six sided lamp screen.
