    Hello all
Hope you can help. I recently acquired two paintings by signed A.D.Jackson 1911 I have found on the back the Canvas provider and that is Windsor and Newton’s London although the marks are faint. I’ve googled the signature but nothing .. is there anything else I can do

You could try posting pics of the paintings, including close-ups of the signature here.

Windsor & Newton produce vast quantities of art supplies.
    We need pictures please :)
Well I can’t help as I’m an art ignoramus but those who do know art will want photos!.

The subject appears to be highland cattle watering. A Google Images search will bring up others similar. They're charming but... I wouldn't be surprised if A.D. Jackson was a Sunday painter.

I agree. It is a lovely scene, clearly painted with love, but it doesn't look like the painter had professional training.

It's also strangely inert. I wouldn't be surprised if the artist copied it from the work of another artist. That said, the naive quality adds to its charm.

The first thing I thought was the Dutch expression 'wat stijfjes', which translates to 'a little stiff'.;) And yes, it could be a copy of one of the many Highland paintings, which are all appealing.

Because it wasn't observed from nature.
