Help Please..... Can Anyone Identify the Country of Origin of this Chest?

    maybe cuz it's lighter....or just the pics...

    Yup, it's just the right term. Amboyna is spongier.

    Since you're adding more pictures, can you take a picture of the back and a picture of the top from above. I can't make sense of the four inch dead space underneath the top, and those pics would help figure out if it was original or added? What is that dead space for? It doesn't make sense to waste the space? Its not a secret storage area or something is it? What do you see if you look and reach into that area after removing the top drawers?

    I don't think it's massively old, but it's beautifully made, simply to show off the wood. A whole fifty cents ish.

    Not an English style I've come across but I certainly wish I had as it's a lovely piece, I'd go with European somewhere, maybe French Imperial. I go with verybrad though that it's been adapted sometime as the top looks wrong.
