With the founding date, Rontgen says 1945 to the present (my copy 1997). When the additional "Germany" was added, I don't know. I also don't know how strictly marks were controlled, whether they were strictly chronological or all higgledy-piggledy.

I agree with a christening, but where does it say that the people are English?

Hello Any. It doesnt say that. Im guessing based on watching Jane Austen movies are they dressed like that period?

this piece sold for $1500 a few days ago. I was really surprised.

It is a general Western style dress. They dressed the same in Germany, and since it is a German piece, it is likely to be a German subject.:)

Interestingly, the figure in blue is wearing Georgian dress, a slightly earlier period.

Thanks for all the information on 19th cent. fashion, I had no idea.

What made this piece so desirable? Its very good, interesting scene, nice lace. ..

Sorry, female figure. Gal. And the tricorne hat is not French by definition although it too is a Georgian fashion, not Regency. So two figures in old-fashion dress. (Interestingly, cockades can be used for identification of nationality but his appears generic.)

One of the things I looked for too, but I agree, probably generic. Not even a political link that I can think of.
    Bicorne in this case.:)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Looking at eBay sales it appears that even the Volkstedt items with one person can sell from $100-$300. This one was group, apparently in good condition. And as you wrote, an interesting scene. I would guess that those come up for auction less frequently? Maybe others have more knowledge and will reply to your question.

At 13" by 17", that's a whopping big porcelain group. It's not going to go on a knickknack shelf.
