    hey folks

found these the other day, thought they were decorative wall hangings at 1st.

but the metal parts seem to be feet, my mate reckons plant pot holders, but i dont think so

i thought the decoration was quite nice and old ? majolica ?

any info appreciated, theres an impressed bird? mark and 74

I agree with you, Charlie - not plant holders. Too small and no evidence on the surface that they ever caught drained water. Plus - who would want to cover up those pretty posies!

I agree, very pretty. They have an Art Nouveau-ish feel, but that could be because I spent much of the last few hours at Art Nouveau jewellery.:wideyed:

The plants appear to be geraniums, in case that helps your search.

Late 19th C majolica trivets. Possibly Minton or Pilkington, most likely to be one of the tile makers.

These trivets were made in Continental Europe, in Belgium, or Germany, circa 1920.

Good chance these are by "Fainenceries de Bouffioulx," in Belgium, or similar Belgian company. They would be more "art deco" period.

The way this tile is manufactured is very familiar to me, from my experience with such tiles. See if you can determine the letters stamped into the verso...see if you can find an FB, which has been stylized into a single stamp.

I forgot. Pelargoniums, not geraniums. ;)
