    Hi everybody.
    I have this clock, originally there is a shelf underneath, but I do not have it. 20180118_152339-1494x2656.jpg 20180118_151744-1494x2656.jpg 20180118_151759-1494x2656.jpg 20180118_151820-1494x2656.jpg 20180118_151932-1494x2656.jpg 20180118_153647-1494x2656.jpg
    My question is: replica or not.
    thank you.

    In the last photo it says 'made in west germany', which means that part at least was made between 1945 and 1990. It could be a replacement, or...

    @afantiques , @buyingtime777 , your insights please.

    I don't think so, a few years difference, either way it would be a replica. Let's wait what the clock people say.

    JMHO. a form known as Comtoise. West Germany was used after WWII well into at least the 1970s. either a marriage of the after-war remains or simply a cheap German clock with a made-up face to deceive.

    This is not a Comtoise imo. At least not the ones from Franche-Comté, the region they are named after.
    Although Comtoises do have those spindles, and some have a big bell on top, they generally look like these, with slight variations:

    It is a fairly modern replica of an English lantern clock of about 1700 of typical form including fake named dial.
    It is a little uncommon in being weight driven, most are spring driven so this is a bit more like the original design but of modern materials (which are actually inferior to the 18th C ones.) It is a decorative piece of no horological or antique interest.

    The Hermle movement clearly marked '77'. . so 1977 is the age. Everything about the case indicates a reproduction of this age.

    As said a modern replica, not a fake or a copy legally speaking , and not the best one, here is how looks an original untouched from that period.:)
    Interesting to see that fingers are from french style on your clock…

    And how looks the rear with this view of the alarm mecanism(not cleaned too).
