    Hi All,

Looking for some help on identifying :
    Age,
    Origin,
    Use,
and what language is and says round top.

    Not much then!!

    It's around 16cm tall by 19.5cm across

Has a strange makers mark on base which looks like a foot or a L shape.

    Any info greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

It looks Persian/Iranian to me. The script could be a blessing or a prayer, but I can't read it. Persian is written in modified Arabic script.

Probably Persian, but also made in Syria. Looks late 19th century or early 20th century, later ones don't tend to have the dovetailing. Generally used for storage, food, water etc. Arabic around the top, I can't read it but most are extracts from the Koran.

Looks like a nice vintage decorative planter to me. Are you sure that’s a language (thinking is just decoration

Since calligraphy is an important art form in the Islamic world, many different script shapes were invented or designed over the centuries.
This is an older form, looks a bit like Kufic script, but I couldn't tell you much more.

Ok. Never mind my opinion. So actual script /wording that means something. And not just random letters for decoration. That’s cool.. I will keep quiet now and learn something :)

I would have never have guessed it. It just looks so “random’ and decorative to me.

I would not have noticed the way the container was joined unless Ce BCA had pointed it out. One can look sometimes and not see.....

to 99.99 % of the populace in Islamic countries it means - nothing. because it's an altered script to use for decoration of everyday items. here I suspect Iranian make due to Persian influence with the animals, before the Islamic revolution.
the dovetail construction for making it watertight is still in use in the mid East.
