    Literally off the top of my head, Chinese 1980+ and the symbols might be a Cyclical date of the heavenly Stem and the Earthly branch... I.e ...wood- yi- sheep. 1995

    They have 12 signs of animals that re occur every 60 years in line with the earthly and heavenly stems.

    You might be surprised but showing the entire item woul dmake it much easier to detect what it is and then find the backmark. Maybe it is japanese, maybe chinese.

    Thanks for the tag, I did see it before, but can't work it out. The piece looks very modern.

    I have seen this before. I think they tea caddies. They are very modern. Vintage perhaps but not antique. I cannot recall if they are handpainted or transfer printed or printed. The latter more than likely. Chinese maybe, but could be form anywhere in Asia, Taiwan, Singapore but most likely china. I just cannot find the backmark and for modern decorative porcelain like this it is not all that important.

    The pot that I own is about 3 inches tall, which would make it half the size of the one posted above. But besides the height difference and mine including the makers mark, they look exactly the same.

    I knew I had seen one before, :) :banghead::banghead: :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

    I actually have one of them :sorry: in fact on mine which i am sur is the same with yours, if you look at the mirror image of the front and back you should notice the images on the front and back of yours are indentical. Now it is not possible to mirror paint an identical image like that by hand. So they are modern prints. So your caddy holds the clue all along. My caddy has a plastic seal, does your have a plastic seal?

    Compare with yours..

    Yes, my little pot has a plastic seal on the inside so I believe our pots are one and the same.

    They are good decorative jars but have no value. At least mine doesn't because it got a chunk cracked out of it.
