If a "family heirloom," could you tell us how long your family has owned it and where/when it might have been acquired? Any additional information please.

Hi! No there is nothing marked on the base. We believe this is the marking.

Hi Debora! The story is the family left Spain for Mexico in the 1920's. So, it was either bought in Spain and brought to Mexico or it was acquired in Mexico and in the 1960's and brought to California. We have search the internet for French, German and Spanish porcelain to no avail yet.

Deborah, sorry it was the 1940's that the family came to California from Mexico.

So it's at least 80 years old and bought in Spain or México.

Debora, yes that basically it. Nice assessment! Any ideas or thoughts? Would it make seen there are no markings on the bottom, but this one unique marking on the back of statue? We are wondering that.

Debora, at leat 80 to 100 years old in 2021. So, its an antique by very basic standards. We think...who knows they could have hand painted markings back during the time it was made as opposed to stamps as markings. Its the only mystery I have not been successful with. I actually figure out the others given to other members of the family. One is German and the other is French. This one just stumps me!

It looks like a decoration to me.

It is a fine gentleman, but we would like to see more pictures.

I don't know who made yours though the gold embellishment doesn't look too much like a maker's mark to me either. Seeing more photos including the back and the base may help someone recognize it.

Here is a past auction for a man that appears to be the same pose in different color. It also is not identified. The photos aren't very clear however it does include an additional female figure and photos of the back. A bit hard to make out but almost look like they possibly could have been part of lamps. A base photo might have helped in this case also.

Maybe not much help but here they are.
