Found this Nootka/Makah bottle for $5 at a second hand shop. A bit faded but not something seen very often here in New England.

The Makah basket has a cedar bark plaited base..
as a rule of thumb....the later the work , the less rye grass was used to fill the base and the visible bark got larger and wider...saving time and allowing more baskets to be made faster for the tourist market...........imo.

9ct gold but at only £2.49 it was a nice little find at the Cshop.

Have you tooth tested the pearl?

Not yet, I didn’t want to wash it like you're supposed to for 20 seconds with soap on your hands so I’ll wait 4 days for any possible virus to go.

Forgot about that. Holding it in your hand is one thing, putting it your mouth...

Gold goes "cold" in 24 hours or less; I'm not sure about alloys, but silver and brass are the same. The pearl can't be too far behind.

Nice basketry-covered bottle, Anund. A bit faded, but still nice.
They say you should never take a nap on the beach in Makah/Nootka/Nu-Chah-Nulth lands; you'll wake up covered in basketry.

Looks really old. But I don’t think antique (but also not sure, maybe?) Most examples I found looks to be in the UK. I wondering was there perhaps a specific time period when these were popular? Or maybe more for ladies? It’s 87cm in length

Note to self: that might be a good excuse for a nap. If I did it here I'd end up covered in cat fur.

Went to an estate/moving sale today and a tag/estate sale afterward. Got to the estate sale and prayed the stairs wouldn't do more damage to my scar tissue/holes. Did some damage to my bank account and I'm praying to do better than break even. The top find might be the ombre purple and black glass teapot-ish thing. The homeowners were from Iran, so...dunno.

This is in addition to the jewelry score, I hope, from Yesterday. Three of those pieces are marked Karl Lagerfeld. The mark looks legit and if so ...wheee. There are some Grandmother's Buttons brand pieces in there too. I'd never run into the brand before, but the NYC retail was nutsoid. Online sales price isn't half bad either. And yes that one pair of earrings is Dragon's Breath, but they're brand harry spankers made with old stock glass.

$200 between the two, but if those Lagerfeld pieces pan out I'm golden! They'll probably ship to Asia as usual; his stuff usually ends up there.
