Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well!
I'm writing this post to ask you if you would be able to identify the brooch or clip Norma Shearer is wearing in a scene from The Women (1939).
Per this article, the actresses wore their own jewelry in the movie. Unfortunately, I can't find any information about this piece.
On a side note, I would really recommend watching this movie - not only is it charming, but the jewelry is dazzling!

Looks like a posy holder broach but I'm no expert.:bag:

The top of it looks like a shell mounted horizontally.

It is indeed a shell, as you can see in the following picture. Do you think it would have been a custom-made piece or do you know of any designer who could have made it?

And a bonus : some more of the jewelry worn by the actresses in the movie.

Is the necklace on the right Miriam Haskell? It resembles this set :

That shell brooch may have been Victorian or inspired by the period. There was a thing for silver mounting those as jewels, boxes and purses.

Maybe it's a Haskell dress clip, we know that she and her designers (Frank Hess, VRBA) have worked a lot with the sea shell.

Thank you! Looking up Haskell dress clips I have found this auction. The dress clip looks very similar to the one worn by Shearer! The dress clip is signed "Agrippa clips déposé" : would this refer to the jewelry designer or just to the name of the patent for the clip's mechanism?

    It's usually the mechanism.

Verdura made some things with seashells.

Found on the Internet about this clip.

A snail lapel clip is added as “an amusing accessory note”
