  1. Hi, just me again wanting any info you possibly have on this piece. I believe it's cherry since I've stripped a little. Just wondering the age and is this an Eastlake? Thanks as always!!! Screenshot_2021-08-30-16-19-11.png

I think it's more Empire Revival.

More properly, late classical. Most of these are mahogany or walnut. Your close up is a little too close but looks more like mahogany.

  6. Yeah, I've never really worked with mahogany before. I knew immediately it wasn't walnut. I'm not sure why but I've stripped 2 layers of paint and varnish off the drawers and they still look so bad. I'm gonna sand them today and use the Howard's on them. Wish me luck, this piece is rough.

  7. I forgot to ask, around what years was classical. It has square nails and there's only screws that someone used so they could take the mirror off. Not sure if that helps. One last thing, every pic I take is too large, so I've been cropping them to get them to post. Is there an easy way to fix this?

Best of luck with this James, It was would be really exciting to see updates and pictures of your before, during and after results. There are many posters here that will find this very interesting as Painted antique brown wood has been a strong topic of discussion on the forum.

I think the consensus was that if you have to strip it then it it is possibly not worth it. However will be interesting to see how this turns out.

  9. I'm gonna try my best and I'll definitely show you updates. Thanks
