Hi all, first post here, wonderful forum,

My mother owns this small table, about 70 cm (28 inch?). I would like to buy something similar, but I have never come across anything like it.

I would very much like to know what style/period it is from. And maybe where I could find it. IMG_1290.JPG

It's not really any pure style, more a hodge podge of Chinese Chippendale, Aesthetic, and late Victorian, with maybe a bit of Indian Raj.

    Call it Heinz.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Welcome, Lars -- I don't know enough about furniture to address your question. I do enjoy af's posts.

( but 1st.....when she's not looking.....clean off the table , turn it upside down...and see if there's any markings that could help you find a similar one !! :pompous:

It's a fun hodgepodge, and if I had to guess, I'd put it at the Edwardian era.

Wow ..... Very similar. The profiled edges of the two tops are different. The auction is dated Wed. Nov. 16th but it doesn't give a year ...... I have to go back to 2011 to find Nov. 16th on a Wednesday.

Wow, thanks for all your tips. Clutteredcloset, you seem like a real Sherlock Holmes to have found the twin sister table in a jiffy. I live in Holland and my mother bought this ten years ago. Actually it was me who found the table in an antique shop. Nice to know what direction I should look. My own guess was that it would have to be English, from around 1900, inspired by Indian or Arabian furniture. Seems I wasn't too far off. I am my mothers only heir, but she is more dear to me than the table, so I hope I'll have to wait for a few more years :)
