Embroidered Heraldic Crest

    Hello

    I'm out of my comfort zone with this one. It's a heraldic embroidered crest. How would one go about researching if it's for a family, or institution etc?

    I don't know much more than that, and I don't know if such things have any value, but it was cheap enough for me to do some research on, as it looks nice quality to me.

    The black fabric is approx 8cm x 11.5cm.

    Well, it's got the British crown, so I would think state related. R for Royal?
