Featured Trying to identify interesting piece of china

Hi, This is a slightly odd piece I've had in my collection for a long time and have never been able to find out anything about the maker or where it came from...Does anyone know?

What Tahmoor girl has found is a page from a book titled "Handbook of Old Pottery and Porcelain Marks" by C. Jordan Thorn, of which I happen to have a copy. The first 4 marks on that page are reported as being from a short lived Dutch porcelain factory, unnamed, in a place called Weesp. It dates the mark 1764-1771.

I find it very difficult to believe that this is 18th C. I think it's modern. It's entirely possible that someone modern is using the same mark, which could be intentional or coincidental - it's not that unlikely a device. I don't see anything about the piece to narrow down where it was made. Could be anywhere.

Not sure what it's meant to depict. Some kind of sack?

 

Interesting item. Is there any translucency if held to a string light?

 

I like it, but can't really figure out what it's for. My first impression is that it represents a piece of clothing.

 

Is it open on the top? It looks rather like a sack vase. If early, I have doubts the above marks are right. It looks fairly modern and looks like it may have luster on that yellow. Is that true?

There are a great many W marks that are German though many are early and likely not correct. Here are some examples from Röntgen's book of marks, there are others, mostly early. Just to show that there are many.

 

I reckon it's a bud vase for a single flower made to look like a crumpled bag with the cloth handle down.

 

Thanks everyone for the info, had my suspicions that it might be a modern example. Yes it is fully open on the top like a vase. There is hard clear glaze over the whole body.

 

Perhaps eastern European, maybe Polish or Hungarian - just guessing.
