Finally found it today and I am very pleased with it - so comfy! Like many of you, I like to think about who might have worn my jewellery before me. I am hoping one of you jewel gurus might know when, where, or even who made it. Is there a style name for this kind of ring

    The ring is marked 10k and something else (assuming makers mark). The stone is a sphere shape and doesn’t shine or reflect much light. A couple of times I thought maybe it had a cat’s eye effect but I am not sure if it isn’t just my imagination. I know the pics are rotten. If anybody wants, I will try to get shots in the sunlight tomorrow. Thanks!

    Looks like FJ in separate diamond shapes.

    The stone is a sphere and probably not original to the ring.Looks like 3 of the prongs are "loose" and the stone is too small for the setting.

    That’s how I read it. Thanks for the confirmation. No luck with google yet.

    The stone is definitely loose. It even moves up and down. It won’t fall out though so will hold off on getting the prongs tightened. I too was thinking it might be a replacement stone. It doesn’t seem quite right. I like it though.

    I think the setting was made for a pearl.

    The stone looks to be a round polished agate. Clearly not original to the ring. If I had to guess, the ring is circa 1950's which leaves a nice 20 year margin. I am sure there is a record somewhere of the maker, but I could not find anything on a quick trip around the block. This may be of use;

    Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    I thought so, too. Now I'm wondering whether the second letter is something else, with parts worn off. Although I see that @Owliza agrees with you, and she can view it in person, so... maybe my perception is off.

    Ah, but you could be right there! Looking at it with my crappy magnifying glass I thought it was worn down and illegible. Me seeing an J is based on the pic I posted. So who knows!
