Unusual Car Jack

Does anyone know what car this is before. Only similar ones are for VW and mercedes made for specific models. No one name for this kind of jack either. As a clue there are few letters left on the label may be something and Co? Plymouth?

I'd call it a 'screw-jack, screwjack or screw jack'. Relatively cheap and simple to make. The Czechoslovakian made Skoda used such a model.

 

BMWs from the 1970s used the same gearbox and handle at the top. The square peg slides into a socket at the rocker panel, two on each side.

 

Yep. My old Mercedes diesels had the same thing. The mechanism is solid, the inherent problem with the old bumper jacks was the lifting point. When you’re lifting up at a bumper the vehicle had to be well chocked because it wanted to roll away from whichever side you were lifting…particularly if you were lifting the back end off the ground as the front wheels typically have no parking brake.

I used these guys many a time..in predetermined slots in the rocker…right past the front wheels or right in front of the rear wheels.
