    Perhaps the "cat" like figures with the long tails are demons. Consistent with my theory of this being Qajar work:

    Demon seems like a good possibility -- as long as they were depicted with tails (I didn't see a full body example on my quick google, so I don't know if they were).

    I love this piece and the different bits everyone is seeing. I tried for some time to sort what was on the central figure's head and got nowhere.

    @M. Munning Thanks for the new pics, they're a big help. Fascinating piece, I'm so glad you brought it here.
