Are there any marks on the back?

Any marks to the back? It looks more like Kutani rather than Satsuma - is it made from porcelain (ie slightly translucent when you shine a strong light through it) or opaque (pottery)? If porcelain it will be Kutani.

Kaga-kuni Shimizu-sei, "Kutani" plate in "Satsuma" style but on porcelain body. Meiji period (1868 - 1912)

I found this backmark which has a similar outline to Smercs plates backmark and while this artist 'Taniguchi Sei' mainly did Satsuma they also Kutani and as this is Kaga-Kuni a kind of Hybrid or 'satsuma on porcelain' ( not pottery) then it might very well be associated with his studio.

FYI in case anyone is not aware - "Sei" is not the maker's surname. It's the Japanese word for "Made."

Thank you Bakersgma, yes I do that alot. I bet if there is someone fluent in japanese they must laugh at my primitive understanding of the Japanese language. I spend hours deciphering a japanese makers mark and signature that they can read in seconds. I should say by the artist 'Taniguchi'.
