Hi everyone. I just received a china hutch with all of its contents and am trying to figure out what some of the items are. I have been trying to upload a pic of one particular item but keep getting the message that the file is too large. Anyway, I thought it was part of a Tea For One set but haven't been able to find anything like it in my searches. It is like a 4 inch tall teapot with a built in strainer, only it has a spout that is 2-1/2 inches wide (tapering down to 1-1/2 inches at the tip). There is no lid. It is ceramic or porcelain (or something of that nature). The bottom of the cup/pot is made with an unevenly scalloped edge, as is the top. There are no maker's marks of any kind on it. It has a matching saucer. Any ideas what it could be?

    Hi Mary

I wonder if what you have is a wine pot.

Mary has not yet posted a picture of what she is asking about. The pictures above are guesses by Francisco she has not confirmed or denied.

Thank you for the help. I got frustrated yesterday and had to give it a rest but finally figured out how to get my pics posted today. Someone told me they thought this was a shaving mug. Seems awfully fancy for that but it seems to make sense. 20210814_184947.jpg 20210814_184929.jpg .

You did a very good job. :) I get frustrated with things too. I do the same thing, take a break from it. Can you please add photos of the bottom, now you've gotten the hang of it?

Id agree with shaving mug, scuttle.

It does not seem very manly though.

Thank you for the help. There are no markings on the bottom of either the scuttle or the matching plate but here is the picture of the bottom of the scuttle and the top of the plate by itself. I have to agree with you, Francisco, this item doesn't seem very manly at all, but then that picture you posted gives food for thought. The video of how to use a shaving scuttle was very enlightening also. Thank you again. bottom of shaving mug.jpg plate for shaving mug.jpg
