Pair asian porcelain scalloped bowls

    Just aquired these two small hand painted scalloped bowls. Can I get your opinion of age and is the mark Japanese? Chinese? What is the inside symbol in both bowls?

    I don't recognise the mark, but they appear to be Japanese and quite possible early-ish 19th century (Edo period).

    Thanks CeB, for your input, I was leaning on Japanese too as I have never seen a character similar in Chinese. Early 1800’s sounds good. I trust your opinion. I hope someone can recognize the images in the center.
