    Hello again!
I've never found what seems to be real silver or gold in the costume lots i find. These 2 I'd like your feedback on. I did try testing the silver one but I cannot discern the colors on the stone very well...maybe acid is too old?
The gold one i tested and it tests positive for 10k but not 14k...could be my acid again, or as some mentioned a 13.5k or lower...but at least 10k. It's length is also strange to me.
Any thoughts? All comments greatly appreciated! :)

PS...Apologies. My pics got mixed up & i wasn't sure how to fix them.

Emma, it looks like the gold chain has lost some of the gold? If so, it is plated, which isn't unusual for these fashion chains marked Italy and ..K.
Official Italian gold marks are controlled by the assay offices.

I hate when i re-read my post and it sounds so awkward (sigh)
So please bear with my awkward expressions. English is actually my 2nd lang so that might be a contributing factor... :)

Same here. I am Dutch, speak several languages (to some extent), but they all fight for poll position, leading to a linguistic muddle in my head.:arghh::hilarious:

Please feel free to use it.:joyful:
A sign of the times, too much information, etc. That and a lot of other things I tend to blame my 'brain muddle' on.;)

    Ok. That makes sense.
Do you think the 925 is just the clasp? Or plated maybe? Or just fake? I know it's not 100% with just photos, but maybe you've seen many fake stamps like this one over the years...
Or any other tester besides acid kit?

Have you tested them with a strong magnet Emma?

Hardly AJ. You clearly hold your own in English equal to any professor I’ve ever had.

I have a key chain magnet. I don't know the strength but it picks up magnetic items pretty fast. 20210810_142603_resized.jpg

Are either pieces of jewellery magnetic? I’ve had a few of the gold ones marked 14k but the magnet stuck to them so were plated sadly. Have you got a handy local jeweller who could check them for you?

Never been to a jeweler other than Zales where we got our wedding rings...20 yrs ago! :)
And i don't see the chain or clasp pulling towards magnet, only the other metal end caps and chain...
I will ask around to see where i can take them once i collect a few:)
    Thx!

Or take them to a pawn shop. Tell them you want to sell and they'll test it all.

The silver chain is probably sterling but the gold chain may very well be plated as "Any Jewelry" opined. Two things stand out: 1. The gold marker link looks to be a different color than the chain; 2. The snap is attached to the chain with an un-soldered ring. It may be that this snap has been amateurishly replaced (?). I agree that the chain is probably GF.
