What are these gem stones

    Possibly synthetic alexandrite,would need to be tested.

    Thanks hollyblue that was the name I was trying to think of I have always been Fascinated with them when I was a kid seeing them at my grandmothers house now it’s something I have put away until I found them again today and thought I would post them to see what they where.     Put the diamond tester on 3 and it shot all the way up on the meterso they are a hard gemstone now sure if that means anything ..thanks matt

    There's a synthetic color-change sapphire that fits the bill.

    There is no way to ID a stone like this from photos.

    Does your gem tester come with paperwork that tells you what the different ranges mean for IDing a stone? If not, if it just for testing diamonds, then it doesn't really help. Plus, gem testers can not differentiate between natural and man made stones. You need to take them to someone who can do a proper ID on them to know for sure what they are.

    They behave like color change sapphires, aka simulated alexandrite. And if that is what they are, it is a virtual certainty that they were lab grown.
