Vintage? Faux pearl? Clasp?

    I'd appreciate any input on this item. Purchased in a lot with many goodies (not necessarily money makers, but interesting amd lovely). Pearls don't feel gritty. Clasp is stamped sterling but hard to read without loupe. My daughter (with much better eyesight) sees a rhombus with M mark as well.
    Any thoughts?

    This is the sort of thing my mother had for wear to formal dances put on by various organizations in the late 40s. Pretty double strand of graduated artificial pearls with rhinestone set silver clasp. Knowing the maker may satisfy curiosity but not likely to add to value.

    Thanks. Since I was a kid, I just love anything vintage...even glass bottles! If it looks old, i love it:) So if its from the 40s, i am happy!
