I just bought what is supposed to be an 18th century Georgian diamond ring. I am suspect of the era. The diamonds are 3-faceted and I can see what appears to be the remnants of foil behind. The band is very thin, not due to age. It is 16 Kt gold and the jeweler does not know what the the top of the ring is made of. There is a stamp (or two) on the outside of the band and one on the underneath of the bridge. I don't know anything about antique jewelry, so I'm hoping someone can give me a hand! I have scoured the Internet for maker's marks and failed to find anything. I have spent literally over 20 hours looking.

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!
    Mary

As Johnnycb09 suggested, if you can get just a closer image of the marks, that would be great....too tiny to actually read!!

Actually the one you're having trouble with, I think is the one we can't see the clearest!!! This is the best I can enlarge!!

I don't know that this dates very far back into the 18th century, but I do think it is Georgian/Regency, which includes the early 19th. The cut of the stones & that very slender band are what lead me this way.

Georgian jewellery tends to be very delicately constructed. Things get more solid in the Victorian period.

The only thing I can say with "a little bit of certainty" is the right band looks a bit like "RX"....I just can't get a clear read on the left band..... 20210724_082546 (1)-3XX.jpg

I've not seen Georgian jewellery with stamps on the outside of the band here.

Is that possibly Arabic on the band ?

Looks like a single stamp, the groove is too deep for a complete stamp.

You've got me. The stones are right for "older than dirt" but whether that's 1810 or 1780 older than dirt, I haven't a clue.

Thank you all! If it's Georgian, I'm happy!

I wondered if it were Arabic. I'm thinking it may be Middle Eastern or so, made in an older fashion.

The open backs of the stones rule out Georgian. Georgian stone settings have closed backs. The style is not Georgian either, more like early 20th century.
So my guess is early 20th century with reused stones from an older piece.
I agree, the mark looks Arabic, but they are single stamps on a grooved ring, so difficult to make out.

In my ignorance, the finish looks rough cast, which I wouldn't have expected of a ring. Is it just my eyesight?
