Venice- watercolor print,correct?

Hello all,so I took this out of the frame and glass to try and figure it out. It is a signed watercolour print,correct? I initially thought is was a original watercolour. Is it a print of a drawing that’s then hand coloured? In the bottom righthand corner looks to be a Copyright mark/stamp? You only see it with the border removed. Any comments? Thanks

 

It looks to me like an etching that has been more freely hand colored than is usual.

 

Whatever was printed there, was done before the rest of the image. I wouldn't expect a copyright stamp to be defaced like that.

 

And I was about to say hand colored etching - but moreother got to it first!

 

I can't tell what's in that corner. It looks backward on the image, but mirroring it does nothing to help.

I don’t know. I look at this from different angles under a magnifying glass. It looks like a name (SMI or SWI)and maybe a copyright stamp (I thought at that stage)I tried searching and looked at other Venice watercolours and prints. But atleast I now know it’s an etching. Not really worth much,but I like colours and it looks pretty in the frame behind glass.

 

Yes,original hand painted etching by Bela Sziklay (Hungary 1911-1981) Maybe around 1940’s or 1950’s or so. Good find for the equivalent of about $2.

 

MOS is right....can't do much of anything to try to improve whatever that stamp is!!!
