I don't know how many of the lines/smudges on the bottom might be something but at least it seems to say something just above the numbers. Do you know what?

    It's a figural exotic pheasant I think.

Is that flourish handle wired on? Looks like some sort of repair.

It appears to be the very same piece, sold in 2015 and shown on the worthpoint site here:

    https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/antique-majolica-eichwald-art-nouveau-1720871586

sayIt: can you show me precisely what area you are referring to as to being repaired? I have not yet taken possession of this piece and the lady tells me there is restoration to the bird but that's all.

Oh I see it now. I didnt see that when looking at the pics until I zoomed in. Well that's interesting. Thats definitely significant.

THis one was sold in Cleveland by Aspire auctions in 2004 resize.jpg . It seems to be the same with a different color scheme. All of those mentioned are approx. 19" x 18". Aspire says Verso of tureen is inscribed "Eichwald, 1155".

Enlarge this picture and you can see the wire wrappings and a hole drilled for the wire to go through in one place.

Well a big Thank You! to SiS that was a very astute observation and saved me from making probably a terrible purchase. I got my money back mainly thanks to you for giving me a heads up and allowing me to be prepared with what to say.

thank you so much! Really what a keen eye.
