Noble effort in the making of this garment except for a fatal flaw. Anyone see the issue?

    Yum! :hungry:
Then I would think that he'd need the space in the armscye and wouldn't have a space-diminishing dart there.

No strap at the back? Missing a breast pocket? Or am I fatally mistaken?:blackeye::inpain:

If you don't mind, I would prefer to wait for a short while so others have a chance to submit their thoughts.

Someone with my lack of sewing skills tried to make a vest?

The dart should start at the side seam, not the armhole?

I'm looking forward to the 'fatal flaw' answer.

Here's the answer to the flaw. Poor pattern match on left pocket.

Fatal flaw here is that 2 different styles are identified as shoulder darts, only one of which looks like it deserves the name.

I think if OP posts the requested photos of it laying flat, the pattern will match up better.

The portion of fabric chosen was one a thick black horizontal line, should have been thin line.

DizzyDaff Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.

Could this have started out as a man's vest, then been cut down and darted for a woman?

"but his pecs were quite large and well-developed..." - Manaries, not mammaries! LOL!!!!!!!!! :):p

Thanks for the photo of the garment laying flat!
Despite the way it buttons, I’m still convinced that this is a woman’s vest.

Putting gender aside, I like the vest.
