Help Identifying a dresser

I am trying to identify this dresser, manufacturer, approximate age and anything else that may give some clue to its history.

1900,give or take.Mass produced but still better than anything these days . I bet theres some nice wood under that hideous brown paint!

 

Looks like maybe pine

I think more like 1880. Renaissance revival cottage piece. Replaced hardware and maybe missing something on top of mirror frame. Being pine, it may have originally been painted. Here is a similar vintage false grain painted dresser. A bit fancier but along the same lines.

 

Here is another example. Yours may be missing candle stands as well.

 

so right...that;s the worst brown of then all...and they painted the hardware..

 

It has a very sweet shape though, doesn't it? Like a stout woman seated on a couch.

Yep, I agree.
Painted cottage furniture became a BIG DEAL! right after the Civil War and sells for decent money if in good condition at auction. Guesses we needed something bright & whimsical after that struggle.
Unfortunately, OP piece has lost its paint decoration and as Brad said, the top as well so......

 

Unfortunately could not save the paint work that was underneath the layers of paint.

 

Too bad, but it happens!
Looks very nice in the house, though.
