Featured Vintage Decanter Art deco

I'm interested if anyone can identify and/or date this decanter. It has three neck rings which are cut and polished and a kind of draping curtain design, its quite heavy blown glass. I haven't seen this one before looks a bit like the newcastle pillar style but the glass is much thicker. I believe the stopper is not the original

 

It is earlier, a Regency or William IV design, almost certainly English. You are correct, the stopper is wrong, also it has been cut down, there would have been a pouring rim. Shame as it would had been a nice piece. I had a pair of these swagged decanters a while ago and they did very well.

 

Pretty,but that glass sickness is virtually impossible to get rid of.

 

Surely it didn't go in a dishwasher?

 

It's usually internal due to acidic alcohol being left inside for a long time - it slightly etches the surface (like frosting). It can be removed mechanically by tumbling, but it's probably not worth it for this one.

Do you have an example of one with a pouring rim because it looks like its alos been bevelled as well as cut which seems unlikely

 

I can't find one the same to show you, but search for William IV decanters and you will see the normal forms. The proportions of yours is wrong, it is too short in the neck. Bevelling of a rim is a simple thing to do for a glass restorer/cutter

Thanks I have to say it would be a stunner with the baccarat stopper. The cloudiness doesn't bother me personally, in fact its partly why it stood to me when I saw it
