    Hi everyone!

I bought this oil lamp about 15 or 20 years ago. I originally thought it was an incense burner. I forgot I had it until recently.
    Questions:
Is it Hindu, Mughal, Persian or unknown?
It’s really really heavy, am I correct in thinking it’s bronze?
My hunch is that it’s mid 1800s ish

I think some similar items online are not properly described and I’m having difficulty in finding a reputable way to find out specifics.
    Thank you!!

Haha! It kind of does! I think it’s intended to be a peacock though

There's a lot of these floating around the internet and they're credited to Persia or India. I suspect not all are old.

I totally agree, this is authentic and why I am seeking information on it. I have seen some obvious fakes online. Ugh!

The question is whether it's old or not, isn't it?

It is Indian, not Mughal, not Persian. Lovely oil lamp, not cheap.

It has age. If I were to guess, early 20th century, but I could be wrong. The chain could be a replacement, which is not unusual with chains on used Asian brass items.

Yes, I was hoping to know a date range but also it’s designation of origin since it’s a religious item. I don’t want to accidentally offend anyone.

I meant the smaller chain, connecting the lamp part to the chunky chain.:)
