I have had this rug and know nothing about it. I hope my photos are good enough to tell anything from it. I have no clue what to photo. No markings. I don't think wool but it is just because it is softer. Does this style have a name? Is it just a cheap rug? It measures 158"x35.5". It's a runner with a paisley motif. Generally, what one would call an Oriental rug but the word "Oriental" is used more as an idea (a synonym for "Eastern" i.e. foreign) than a place. These typically come from the Middle East. The dyes are bright and don't appear vegetable so likely to be newer than older.

Do you know the knots per square inch?

Thank you. I have to leave now but will check if I have a clue how to count them? I am selling a lot of my things. Any idea of a price?

The knots per square inch will be the most telling of the value. To my eye, it looks like a tribal Rug. It might be Persian or from another area in the Middle East. It’s impossible to guess the value without knowing the KPSI and the specific type of knot. At least for me! It’s lovely, regardless. I’d google “how to count knots in Persian rugs” and find a few links so you can find the method that works best for you. You can also find out the knot type all in one link.

I'll try to look tomorrow but my best guess is Tuesday. I have developed what they think is a pinched nerve in my neck and concentrating is difficult as I am trying to limit a pain pill until I go to sleep in a little while. It isn't one with a lot of knots per inch as I have a real Persian or something oriental smaller rug with lots of knots per inch, although I never counted them, it is very visible. Thank you

With my great grandson just getting over his illness and I have had him and then today I have him as it is my granddaughter's birthday and she has plans, I won't get to learning how to count and possibly the kind of knots until next week. Thank you KLSS!

I am not going to get to counting threads. I have a pinched nerve and my 2 1/2 grandson more than my strength lasts, so am winging it. It is not at all a tight weave. Can I attach a different photo that helps you know more? Can you give me a guesstimate of value as I need to get rid of it as I am trying to sell everything my children do not want. Thank you.

Evaluating an oriental rug is complex, depending on many factors such as what fibers are used, whether it is hand knotted or machine woven, the type and quality of knotting and design, age and condition. Many of these factors are difficult to tell from photographs alone, and can only be determined by someone actually handling the rug. This is one of the reasons we generally don't provide estimates of value here.

Perhaps you can find a dealer in oriental rugs near you who can take a look.

Thanks. I doubt it has value enough to do that, but I will see. Thank you.
