    Hey friends!

Another find I need help with. Got this from Sweden's antiques auction. I was told it was approx. 100 years old, not sure if it's true, but this decanter is stunning and very unique. If you look through it, it makes everything look small and further away. Not sure what is the right word for it in English, sorry. :D
I couldn't find much information using Google, maybe some of you have some ideas. I attached few photos. Cork is not original, added one from my collection.
Any help would be highly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Your English is very good, Erik. Just one clarification... I believe you mean "stopper" not cork. These are corks.

You've checked it carefully for an incised mark?

Nudge-- OP stated that the stopper is not original. He added one from his collection.

    Really beautiful decanter.

    D'OH!

    I need more coffee.

The stopper is from a Newcastle decanter, which would have been odd.

    Thanks you guys! :)

It doesn't magnify the dog if I turn it around :( I wish!
I have checked very carefully for any signs or marks, nothing. Still haven't found any information on it. I wish I knew at least the period and the country.

Unfortunately I cannot help you specifically with your decanter and could find nothing remotely similar on the internet. However, it is clearly a high quality piece of hand cut lead glass or ‘crystal’, perhaps dating to the Art Deco period circa 1920s ~30s. Presumably it is Continental glass, perhaps Scandinavian. Sometimes that concave lens-like cutting is called ‘optic cut’, as in an optic cut decanter. That term might include prismatic cutting too but certainly cutting with optical effects such as yours. Note the decorative theme which has something in common with the Chrysler building.

I hope you can find a stopper of shorter, simpler form, from a similar period.

Beautiful decanter! @Erik Aunapuu , please post details once you find them. Truly lovely and as others have said, your photographs are outstanding!

Thank you guys! You are amazing :)
I will keep researching about this decanter. I will let you know if I find anything useful. It is truly one of the most amazing items I've seen regarding glass and crystal.

I've carried out an extensive search using all the relevant search terms I could think of but found nothing similar in style to your decanter. However, with patience and perseverance, sometimes over a very long period, eventually the identity is revealed.

Well, I edited one of your pictures to give it one last try and came tantalisingly close to an ID. Unfortunately, as happens quite frequently, the links or info for search results can be out of date or uninformative, as is the case here. Anyway, it is possible that your decanter is Russian. I'll show you a screenshot of a similar piece, with a mismatching stopper! I think there's another example too. I'll try to post a link to the site later because it's proving to be difficult on my phone. Screenshot_2021-07-17-09-29-36-43_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

    Alright, here's the link:

A translation of the salient text reveals little: Decanter "CATHEDRAL". Crystal, carving, wide facet, polishing, engraving. LZHS.SUSSR

LZHS might be a maker, I'm not sure.
