I'm curious to know more about this old throw I have. If anyone could give me details about it I would be much appreciated. 38836.jpeg

Hello @Cayres & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

How big is this piece? What does the back of the piece look like? Give us a clue as to the type of material - silk - wool -cotton?

Where do you live? Was it found locally? Are there any types of tags on the other side?

The design on the 4 sides might be Islamic letters but that is just a SWAG.

Star of David in the four corners?

Thanks for the response. This piece is approximately 4ft square. I don't recall how I obtained it years ago. It has no tags. I live Kansas, USA.

Alot of the colored fabric is very soft and shiny. 20210714_144352.jpg

They're from the Middle East. Newer ones are rayon or some such. Older ones might be silk. Still available today. A Google Internet search for "Middle Eastern Piano Shawl" bill bring up other examples like this one.

Definitely writing around the edges, the same thing on each side. Prayer rug?

Can't be an Islamic prayer rug. Their design is meant to point in one direction.

A piano shawl was actually what I thought of at first but then I saw the possible writing & second-guessed myself.

It is a very attractive piece & I do like the colors.

I wonder if @Any Jewelry can shed any more light on the piece?

Maybe @Kronos or @Iowa Jayhawk can help out with the price realized.

I have seen these with 'made in Turkey' labels.
Some designs are Middle Eastern or even North African, so I think made for the Arabic or Islamic market in general.
