Bought this some time ago. Guts of lock are missing. In good condition overall. I was wondering as to time/place.

    Any ideas?

Welcome Edward. It looks Breton (Western France) to me, very nice.

Could you post more photos, also of the construction, inside, top, back, bottom, corners, and anything that is of interest?

No expert opinion to offer, but I'd say at least two or three centuries old, and will hopefully last many more, it's gorgeous!

Guesses 19th century based on carving in the front, lack of frame & panel construction & what looks like dovetail joinery, hard to tell much with this photo.

the cross was wrongly interpreted as trumpet cross, but was probably an "over-bamboozled" croix pattée. as it showed up in connection to the Templers (Domme) the doors are wide open to all fantasy interpretations in Dan Brown fashion these days.
