    Hey guys!

Won a big lot of gorgeous Meissen items including some very rear bowls, candlesticks and etc. I was going through the items and wanted your opinion on the marking of one of the tea cup sets and one bowl. I read through various websites last night and it is still a bit confusing for me about understanding the marks, when they were made, by who etc. Any help on these would be so helpful!

    Thanks so much!

It’s supposed to be the most popular pattern in European porcelain known as the Blue Onion or Zwiebelmuster pattern.

Google it for a plethora of information and a Wikipedia article. I’m not sure about age but probably 20th C. Note the crossed sword mark in the stem of the pattern on the dish.

I am almost certain yours are genuine but others will chip in.

Maybe not the best turn of phrase when talking porcelain. :joyful:

I think it is lovely. I love the pattern, I had a vintage tea towel many years ago with the Blue Onion design. It sold lickety split.

    Certainly hehe :)

Maybe someone can help me with these candelabras. I got a pair of these with the whole lot. Can't really find much information on them and again struggling with the mark. It is slightly different and there are huge numbers underneath which I am not sure what they mean.

    Hi there
These items are all after 1930. Easy way to determine older Meissen marks....look and see if the crossed swords are not well defined or one has a shorter arm than the other. If the swords are in the tree trunk then this is a mark from 1880s which states it is genuine Meissen as at this time lots of *those Others* were copying Meissen mark
There is just so much to look at when trying to determine what is what....but may i suggest that u get your eye in on the modern marks first and when that has been trained then any other mark becomes exciting as, who knows, it might be a *fabulous* item.
Here is a great link to marks and history.https://meidabank.de/en/model-numbers
