Hi everyone! I cannot for the life of me decipher the artist signature. I have googled myself to near death haha. I’d appreciate any help in identifying the artist, style, age etc.
    thank you!

I'm dizzy! Would/could you post a photograph of the entire work including frame shot from straight on? Both front and back please? And are there any labels, stickers or handwritten notations on the back? If so, please post close-up photographs.

Thank you, Debora! It’s huge and heavy so I’ll need help getting it off the wall. But I’ll try and get some better shots straight on right now

The frame looks old in style but does not seem to have any of the wear you would expect. The varnish on the painting looks very glossy and not oxidized. My guess is that the painting is less than 50 years old. The signature is a mess and the scene could be in lots of places in Europe. I am going to go with Spain, Italy or France.

Are you sure that's painted on canvas? Or even... Are you sure it's painted?

It’s most definitely painted and I can see and feel the canvas, my pics aren’t great! Like lithographer said above, it’s oddly glossy. Does the back of the frame have any helpful info? Thank you!

I bought it for $100 when I was dropping off donations at a charity store. My great grandparents collected fine art which I am now the steward of a few pieces so this caught my untrained eye. I appreciate everyone’s time and knowledge chiming in! upload_2021-7-9_18-6-32.jpeg

It would be helpful if you posted a photograph of the back from straight on. The angled photographs are confusing.

Yes, oddly glossy surface, overly ornate frame along with printed numbers (including size) and staples on the back. I wouldn't rule out a factory painting.

Lots of wow factor but I do think that might be a commercially produced painting and frame. Let's see what others think.

Looks like staple gun staples were used, so not terribly old.
Like Debora, I think it's a decorative painting and frame, commercially produced.

    It's a tricky one

The back is far more revealing than the front in terms of authenticity

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

See if you think that signature looks anything like Mar rowena....just a guess....I think we're only seeing part of the signature!! THAT FRAME HAS to be what's causing it to weigh a TON!!!!
