C. Benolt oil painting of Eiffel Tower

I bought this painting in 2001, January or February, a few days before Chinese New Year. In the traditional New Year Market (Dihua Market, Taipei), you won't miss a white guy selling oil paintings beside the alley, though I was the only customer in that 20 minutes.

As your descriptions, most of his paintings were flowers, still stuff, and fishes. I believe I met C. Benolt himself, probably he was on his vacation. Otherwise, what kind of seller would have a unique booth there? Vending unframed painting on canvas was rarely seen in my place.

Based on my preferation, he helped me pick out all his landscape paintings. There were 3, all about Paris, one of them was Arc de Triumph. Finally, I made my choice of Eiffel Tower.

It's around 15.5x12 after framing. Raised oil can be seen on trees, boats, bridge and the tower. The transparent paint was treated above the cloud to make it shine.

 

Who knew there was a "factory" of Eiffel Tower "art?"
