Featured Birch Bark Box?

Hey I found this one today and think it's birch bark, porcupine quill and sinew as the 'hinge.' It's about 6 inches tall and 8 across.

I'm thinking @komokwa and others will be able to quickly verify if that's right.

Does it look Native made, and if so is there a certain tribe with theses traits?

Is there a way to straighten the lid which seems to warped a bit?

not so much warped.....as returning to the curve ,as it was naturally on the tree..

the root used to bind the top rim would have been used all over on an older work...but the sinew,,,,or other material.....is easier to work with..

@komokwa if one WANTED to flatten the lid again, what if it was dampened on the inside, and weighted until it dried.......would that do it???? OR cause other problems????? Inquiring minds are curious???

it would be worth a try to steam it .....as it's not so large..and weight it till dry...
the quills likely would not mind either....
but lonf term , it may , once dry.....move back to it's curved shape...
