    Superb black opal!!!
    So interesting to watch the repoussé and chasing technique with the wax.
    Thanks Hollyblue for sharing the vid!
    I'm not fond of his setting technique though: there is still a gap between the stone and the mount, as the bezel isn't pushed against the stone on the upside

    I think the opal was set that way to prevent fractures due to temperature variations.I have seen several bezel set opals which the top of the bezel was burnished tight to the top of the opal and cracking due to extreme temperature. I wouldn't want a $20,000 black opal to crack.
