Could this be by Schreiner? There are a couple of areas on the back that look like they might have been marks in the photos, but sadly they're tricks of the camera. It's completely unmarked.

A strong "maybe". It's called a Schreiner "ruffle" pin or brooch, if yes.

There are two Schreiner ruffle pins on Ebay to view. One sold and one still live.

I've only sold one Schreiner ruffle pin in my day, I can't quite remember how the back was constructed. The two on Ebay have slightly different backs than this, and something is kind of bothering me about how this presents, but let's not rule Schreiner out.

The fact that it is not signed is not a red flag at all. Many Schreiner pins were unsigned. And ruffle pins are one of the most collected and high priced sought after jewelry in the vintage Schreiner line.

Nice comparable piece. The back on that one looks identical, open back settings, etc. Hard to know with a 100% certainty, but chances are good yours is Schreiner. They definitely didn't always sign their pieces. There were some lookalikes made, that's the only thing that would be of concern, but I think if you were selling on Ebay you could say you were fairly certain yours was an unsigned Schreiner piece.

Just got a response back from the family through the eBoo thread. Thanks again for that link, sch!

"That is my dad's cross using our custom made keystones. Once he had them made for us he used them in a lot of his creations, including his famous ruffel pin. They were made in Germany by Cz refugees, who were master glassiths. It was in the line, off, and on, from the mid 50ss until we closed in 1973."

It's great to see the reply on this. It's a very dramatic-looking brooch!

What does their mark look like? I think I see something, but don’t want a false alarm?
    I think I see a tiny star.

Here's the "tag" for the one that's similar to this on eBoo.

    Great news.

    Going to jump back in...

I'm familiar with the jewelry Ebay site, and the person you spoke to is a direct descendant of Schreiner. They don't often give such quick approval, most often they are responding saying that something is not Schreiner, so you pretty much won the lottery with that affirmation.

As a side note, don't worry that it isn't signed. Many Schreiner pieces were not, and you can see that the Schreiner family member had no issues with the lack of signature. I don't think the signature oval on yours came off, it was just never signed.

Should note that you will see sellers posting pins on Ebay that are not Schreiner and calling them "unsigned Schreiner" to add to the confusion. (If you are selling on Ebay, you could probably mention that you received this affirmation.)

    Congratulations! :)
