Had a decent garage sale weekend, found a pair of "duchin creation" 3 position candle sticks, a pair of "otto reichardt" candle sticks (sadly one is broken at the base, not sure if worth fixing or just scrap), a single candle stick with acLme on base supposedly from 1910. (only found acSme in silver marks so any input appreciated) again broken at the base. Also a 14 k ring with enamel sadly a lot of enamel worn away but still 7.1 grams. Last but not least an 800 silver spoon with the markings 15 bs in lozenge and 800. All together spent 17 dollars so was a happy camper.

It's always to sun to see everyone's weekend treasure hunt results. I love the ring....exactly as it is. It is beyond beautiful.

Nice buys, Coreya! The spoon is Italian, maker from Brescia between 1944 - 1968.

That Acme mark is driving me crazy. I know I've seen it before (and that is an L in the middle) but it's too early for my brain to remember where to find it.

I spent a couple hours trying to find the acme mark and came up empty!:cigar::cigar: perhaps more coffee will help :woot:. Thanks for the info on the spoon.

That's one of the ones I found with the S and also found that it is for acme silver co out of Toronto Canada pre 1900. But nothing with the L. Just as an aside the Duchine ones were black with tarnish when I got them and the picture is after cleaning.

Rainwater has an entry on the Canadian "Acme Silver Company" and says the company (in Toronto) was a manufacturer of silverplated wares circa 1885, liquidated in May of 1893. Company assets were sold to W K George and others who then formed Standard Silver Co, Toronto LTD. That company later became part of International Silver Company of Canada, Ltd. She shows no Acme mark in the IS of Canada section.

There were rings made from gold also, but Vargas was the name I remembered. The ring also appears to have been sized smaller at some point and part of the maker's mark could have been sanded off.

That looks like a score. That poor ring was rode hard and put away wet; odds are Kyra could have fun messing with it. As for the broken reinforced candlesticks, once that happens they're bound for the breakers' yard I'm afraid. It's hard enough selling the intact ones.

Thanks all for the info, scrap they will be though its a shame to have survived over 100 years just to be melted. As for the ring it also goes in the scrap pile as I don't see it being worth restoring. Now lets hope metal prices start going up so I can unload a bunch of this stuff as I'm running out of room! :cigar::cigar::cigar:
