That's a perfect size for a breakfast tray. The suggestion above regarding a cloth napkin in the slot in back is looking good.

Your picture made it look so much bigger!

Exactly my problem in searching too. But the date mark is 1914 and in Gorham's date scheme that's the year it was made.

I believe the monogram is JFN. Being that it’s a monogram piece, could this have been a custom made piece? Could it possibly have been for fresh cut flowers in a removable vase? The slots on the side would make it easily removable. Just a thought 8640FE88-3847-4A27-866D-652419276C8B.jpeg

    it's an idea.....
    but 1 x 1/2 x 2 inches ....doesn't leave a lot of room for flowers...:)

Whatever one puts in that thing, it's going to fall out, shake loose, empty into the cream...or if it is something meant to be removed upon reception by Milady-in-Bed, it leaves a very peculiar space in the creamer...

    Somebody think of Something!!!

Definitely not hotelware. This is monogrammed and belonged to my husband's grandmother.

Obviously whatever went in there was removed before using otherwise it would have spilled into the cream. Possibly a silver box for sugar.

Final thoughts, it seems a bit to small for a creamer and the slots on the sides cut to low to hold anything of the day, with exception to a removable bottle or container. Seems to me they are designed for taking something out.

Could this have been a personalized, pharmacists or doctors measuring device for certain medicines that needed to be deluted prior to consumption? One that could not to be cross contaminated with other prescriptions vials? Eh just another thought...
