    good morning good morning

something else i found in a charity shop yesterday, was on a rotton old cord type necklace, so thinking might not be, but worked out to be about 50p

looks better in the light, not exactly well carved, but interesting

gonna start taking pictures outside more in future:)

    any thoughts appreciated

Oh what a beauty! Your hei-tiki is carved from nephrite and looks to have a little age to it. That being said, it's quite crudely carved and most likely made for the tourist market. Really old, genuine hei-tikis (often with red-lined eyes, and always with smoother, more "fatter" or curved carving (don't know how to describe it--yours is flat; older tikis are more thicker and more dimensional) are not only rare but command impressive prices. Tikis are fascinating things and I really enjoy the ones in my collection: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hei-tiki

You should definitely keep your eye out for older ones--a lot of tikis were bought directly from Maori in the late 1800s by UK tourists who took them back to the UK. The tikis get passed down until everyone forgets what they are or understands their significance/value and they often end up at car boot sales...

Your Tiki has a bit of value in New Zealand, people collect the old novelty Tikis,Even the little old plastic ones from the 70s/80s are relatively sort after. 50p sounds like a pretty good deal. I would of snapped it up. Enjoy
